Does anyone else agree that receiving a handwritten note is one of life's sweetest joys? I invariably swoon every time someone takes the time to express appreciation through the written word. I think cards are one of the truest forms of endearment, because it does take a lot of time to write a thoughtful, sincere note. It doesn't have the transiency of a text or, please forbid, a SnapChat. Notes can be treasured for years and reread during times when you need to remember that you don't completely suck at all things in life. I refuse to throw away letters that touched my heart when I first read them. In fact, I have a whole drawer of notes I've been collecting since the 3rd grade. If I need to remember what's important in life, or rather, who is important in life, I open that drawer and read those notes, for it is in those letters that I realize just how much people do truly care. After all, they took the time to celebrate life's "milestones" with me–a good luck wish for an upcoming ballet performance, a congratulations for graduating high school and an expectation for great endeavors ahead, a reflection upon a favorite date. Notes are tangible reminders that there are people rooting in your court.
For those reasons, I am a sucker for writing notes. So when I walked into the Conscious Mercantile, I GAWKED. There are just rows and rows and rows of the sweetest greeting cards. Some displayed beautiful strokes of artistry; others made me laugh out loud at their "punniness." But ALL of them are hand-crafted, most by local Lynchburg artisans. What could be better than receiving a note, and receiving it in the cutest little package? Just look at some of these cards:
Come out to the Conscious Mercantile to find that perfect card for someone's next milestone. I'm certain that this will be one card they will treasure for a long while.
