Amazing authentic Vietnamese food served here!
Description: Vietnamese restaurant
Price: $6-15
Great for: Late night, cheap bites
Why it's a treasure: Authentic Vietnamese food
Marrying an Asian guy has its perks. First, adorable children. Second, dumplings. Alex introduced me to a world of Asian cuisine that my Polish stomach had never encountered before. Though he isn't Vietnamese, Alex is in love with pho, a traditional dish of rice noodles dunked in boiling hot meaty broth. Some dishes are even served with raw steak so that the broth naturally cooks it. After watching way too many YouTube episodes about pho, we decided to hunt down our own in the 'Burg.
Surprisingly, our little city actually has an authentic Vietnamese restaurant! Pho Saigon Palace is located just off of Timberlake Road in Timbrook Plaza (near the Big Lots). Admittedly, it looks a little janky when walking in, but the food is awesome! Alex got the flank and tendon pho while I opted for the spring rolls. Both were excellent. The peanut sauce was dynamite, too. The portions are also huge and extremely reasonable for the cheap menu price.
This place is also worth the visit because its cuisine is really difficult to make. Alex and I are always trying to DIY, but the broth of pho takes so much effort that it's clearly much better to let the experts handle it. Don't believe me? Try taking a look on Pinterest. Hope you have your calf shanks ready to go.
Pho Saigon Palace is amazing. Pho' real.
